Before the Void
An album of memory, written before everything cracked open
Before the Void is a collection of pieces I wrote in a period that now feels like a different climate. Not “better” in any simple way - just quieter. The world hadn’t yet arrived at the version of itself we live inside now, and I hadn’t learned some things the hard way.

Each track reflects images and moments that moved me. The one that really shows how I felt back then is “The Summer Morning in Minsk.” It was inspired by a night spent with friends, which ended with us watching the sunrise from a rooftop parking lot. It was a simple but profound experience that reminded me how joyful shared moments can be.
I miss the simplicity and innocence of those days—a time when I had no idea what hardships were coming. The world has changed so much since then and I’ve faced personal challenges that have changed how I see things.
Even in dark times, I believe it’s important to find and cherish the beauty around us. These moments of beauty keep us going and give us hope. I hope that through this album, you might find glimpses of that beauty and maybe remember your own moments of light during tough times.
The album has seven pieces, mastered by Ian Hawgood, and was released on December 27, 2024.
